Cephalic index is greatly affected by geographical and racial factors. It is one of the useful parameters to determine race and sex of an individual for medico-legal purposes. Present study provides cephalic index of 320 Maharashtrian subjects, in the age group of 20 to 30 years. Maximum head length and Maximum Head breadth were calculated with the help of spreading caliper. Percentage of having Mesocephalic followed by Brachycephalic heads were found to be maximum among them.
