The most common disorder of electrolyte which is found in patients who are indoor as well as outdoor is Hyponatremia. The patients who are at a high risk for the happening of Hyponatremia are elderly patients who are mostly above the age of 60. For the occurrence of Hyponatremia, the age factor is one of the most important factors responsible for it. The reason behind this is factors that are present and which contribute to increase in the concentration of antidiuretic hormone. Another reason for this is the drugs that are prescribed by doctors to the patient and also due to the mechanism involved such as “tea and toast” syndrome [1]. The drugs mainly anti depressants, thiazides are mainly responsible for occurrence of Hyponatremia. The elderly person requires a very special attention so that endocrinopathies are excluded due to the reason because is basically causes Hyponatremia and also establishes Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion. This abnormality of electrolyte is very common and can be observed in patients whose cases are complicated like heart failure, failure of kidneys, lungs, liver and also pneumonia. In this research, the prevalence of Hyponatremia is seen in elderly population and patients of ages above 60 years are observed and their creatinine and sodium values are seen and it is also been seen that how much prevalent is this disorder in elder people. In the body, normal concentration of serum sodium is 135-145 mEq/L [1]. Therefore, Hyponatremia occurs when sodium concentration decreases below 135 mEq/L2. After this study was done, this study indicated the number of patients suffering from this disorder and also the analysis was done with respect to creatinine values of patients. Therefore, basically, this study tells the increase in number of patients having hyponatremia as well as abnormal creatinine levels.
